The CEER Foundation in collaboration with the University of Santiago de Compostela organised on Tuesday 9th January, in the Faculty of Geography and History, the launching event of the ATLANTIC SUNSET project corresponding to the first call of the Interreg Atlantic Area 20212027 programme.
The ATLANTIC SUNSET project, led by the CEER Foundation, seeks to take advantage not only of the natural beauty associated with the best and most particular Atlantic sunsets but also to identify and enhance the value of the local endogenous resources associated with the sun and that become a heritage attraction.
This event served to make the public presentation of the project to the media and society, as well as to start the common work that the 7 partners from 4 countries will have to implement during the next 3 years.
During the morning session, the project was presented in society through a first institutional panel presentation to the public and media, with the presence of representatives of the USC, the Atlantic Area funding programme and the CEER Foundation itself through its director, Professor Doctor Ángel Miramontes. This was followed by a round table discussion moderated by Daniel Fernández Santiago, Project Coordinator, with the project partners, where they presented and explained their competences and role in the project. In the afternoon, the project partners met in a session closed to the public to carry out the technical kick-off meeting of the project where the planning of the activities to be developed in the coming months was addressed and the corresponding execution periods were established. The meeting was attended by all project partners physically and online, and was visited by the Rector of the USC, Antonio López.
It is expected that the partners will meet again in April, this time online.
The event was a first milestone in the implementation of the project and attracted the presence of numerous media that echoed the event and the particulars of the project.
