In addition to the main event of the Atlantic Sunset project in Galicia (Spain), France also celebrated a special day focused on sunsets as part of the Interreg Cooperation Day. Last Friday, the iconic Château d’Eau de Kulmino became the setting for a unique experience: the observation and study of sunsets.
During the event, researchers from the University of Angers — Johan Vincent, Quentin Brouard-Sala, and Emmanuel Jaurand — presented the objectives of the program and the results of their studies on how different regions, such as Ibiza or Galicia, integrate sunsets into their tourism offerings. Participants had the opportunity to engage in discussions with the researchers about the perception and development of tourism activities related to this special moment of the day, culminating in the observation of the sunset from 70 meters above ground on the Kulmino platform.
Kulmino, in addition to its function as a water tower, offered an exceptional panoramic view, allowing attendees to fully enjoy the magic of a unique sunset. Raoul Grondin, Mayor of Notre-Dame-de-Monts, highlighted that the orientation of the beach makes each sunset distinct and memorable.
The event coincided with the Interregional Cooperation Day, allowing French observers to symbolically connect with observers in Galicia, participating together in a joint European project.
The initiative was free of charge but with limited capacity, and the Communauté de communes Océan-Marais de Monts plans to continue promoting sunset observations at Kulmino in the future.
