The Interreg project led by the Fundación CEER will be one of the highlights of the Fundación’s stand at Galicia’s Researchers’ Night, on 25 September at Vigo.
Sunsets as a shared research subject
ATLANTIC SUNSET, coordinated by the Foundación CEER (the network of public universities of the Galicia–North Portugal Euroregion), will be presented to the general public at G-Night, Galicia’s Researchers’ Night, an initiative that brings science out of the laboratory and into everyday spaces.
Science to discover, try out and take part in
At Praza do Berbés (Vigo), visitors will find ATLANTIC SUNSET presented through posters, demonstrations, games and interactive materials designed for audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Researchers involved in the project will be on hand to explain, in clear and accessible terms, what the work involves, how its results are being applied along the Atlantic coast, and why international scientific cooperation matters.
The project features within the Fundación CEER’s wider stand, “Connecting universities, crossing borders, multiplying knowledge”, which showcases results from research carried out jointly by institutions in Galicia and Northern Portugal, as well as initiatives involving partners from other European regions. Together, the exhibits show how pooling effort between universities, researchers and territories can help tackle shared challenges and generate knowledge with real social impact.
Ten years of Researchers’ Night in Galicia
The European Researchers’ Night marks its tenth anniversary this autumn, arriving in Galicia under the motto “Creative Consciences”, with creativity and its relationship to scientific knowledge as the central theme of the event.
On 25 September, G-Night will fill the cities of Vigo, Ourense, Pontevedra, Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña, Ferrol and Lugo with science outreach activities in streets, museums, beaches and bars, in a festive atmosphere open to everyone. The aim is to make the work of scientists better known and to underline the importance of research to society.
Funded from the H2020 framework programme through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), the Galician Researchers’ Night is now run by a consortium coordinated by the University of Vigo and made up of the universities of Santiago de Compostela and A Coruña, CESGA, the Scientific Culture Unit of the CSIC Delegation in Galicia, the Institute of Marine Research, the Vigo Oceanographic Centre (IEO-CSIC), Gradiant, ITMATI, INIBIC and SEBBM. Alongside the Galician cities. The EU Researchers Night event takes place simultaneously in more than 360 locations across Europe.
