The programme included an immersive virtual reality experience, an Atlantic sunset viewing from A Laxe, and playful explanations of scientific cooperation in the Atlantic Area .
Fundación CEER and Wireless Galicia took part last Friday, the 25th, in G-Night, the Galician Researchers’ Night, with a programme of activities designed to bring citizens closer to some of the work carried out through the Atlantic Sunset project.
Our stand became a meeting point for discovering different initiatives, taking part in games and getting to know more closely the project cooperation between territories, research and innovation. Throughout the afternoon, proposals and content linked to other topics addressed by the CEER Foundation’s projects were also presented.
In addition to the activities, the stand offered visitors several giveaways as the commemorative coasters based on the plaques being installed at the Atlantic Sunset sites.
Technology to discover the Atlantic sunsets
One of the main afternoon’s activities came from Atlantic Sunset. Thanks to the work of the project’s technology partner, Wireless Galicia, the public could get to know this initiative through an immersive experience with Virtual Reality headsets, featuring 360-degree tours and interpretation of the resources of the different coastal locations.
The Atlantic Sunset programme continued with an activity on the terrace of the A Laxe shopping centre, from which participants could watch the Atlantic sunset through telescopes and binoculars. The activity featured Begoña Estévez Brao and Antonio Pazos Pérez, StarLight monitors from the Starlight Foundation and astronomy communicators from FAAE, of Corvus Maris.
An afternoon to bring projects closer to citizens
Taking part in G-Night allowed us to present the project to a younger audience and show them what lies behind the cooperation and research carried out in the Atlantic Area, through games, technology, outreach and outdoor experiences.
